We’re delighted to now be offering advisers working with groups of young people at Explore level the opportunity to meet with an Arts Award moderator at a standard moderation.
What is a standard moderation?
Standard moderation provides advisers and centres with an invaluable opportunity to receive face-to-face feedback from an experienced moderator visiting your setting, which can further support your delivery and development of Arts Award. Also, the young people have an opportunity to talk to the moderator about their project.
If you meet the minimum fee of £425 for standard moderation (which can be reached by any combination of Arts Award levels or from a group of more than 39 if you are just delivering Explore) then you can log in to the adviser portal and place a moderation request. You must give us at least 8 weeks’ notice of the date you would like your moderation to take place. A member of the moderation team will then be in touch to confirm and discuss arrangements for your moderation.

What if I don’t meet the minimum fee?
If you don’t meet the minimum fee, then you still have the option of booking an Explore postal moderation. However, there has been a slight change in this process. To request an Explore postal moderation, advisers must now:
- Log on to the adviser portal (using the log in details supplied after attending adviser training)
- Click on ‘Request a moderation’ and select from the list of ‘Sample confirmation dates’
- Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll need to enrol your young people (send us the list of young people you would like to moderate) no later than three weeks before the sample confirmation date.
What happens on the sample confirmation date?
On your chosen sample confirmation date, you’ll receive an email from the moderations team specifying whose portfolios you should send in for moderation to AMP House in Croydon – choose this date carefully as you’ll have two days from receiving this email to send in work!
How do I enrol my young people?
Either fill in the spreadsheet attached to your booking confirmation email, ensuring to fill in all compulsory fields, and email it back to us at DEnames@trinitycollege.co.uk and we’ll upload the names for you; or
Upload the names yourself in the adviser portal. You can find guidance on how to do this by clicking here.
In both cases, an invoice will be generated when the names are enrolled and sent to the person that placed the booking – this should be paid upon receipt so as not to delay the young people receiving their certificates.
Once names are enrolled, and you’ve received your sample confirmation email, send in work of the young people selected, along with completed assessment report forms to AMP House in Croydon. You have two days to send in this work.
Full details of when and where to send work will be included in confirmation emails.
Results will be communicated by email within four weeks of the sample confirmation date; arts logs and moderator’s feedback will be sent back shortly after.
Certificates will be dispatched 6-8 weeks from the sample confirmation date.
